Intense Pulsed Light

IPL is an advanced treatment technology that can be tailored to individual skin tones and conditions making it perfect for sensitive skin types as it reduces skin sensitivity.
The principal method of treatment is to absorb light into the melanin that requires treatment and convert it into heat. This heat destroys the pigment, which is absorbed by the body, thereby clearing up the skin. Unlike laser that is a focussed light which penetrate very deep, IPL consists of several wavelengths to target different pigments in the skin which are relatively shallower.
Treatment times depend on the size of the area with majority of the treatments only taking between 30-40 minutes. A cold treatment gel is applied to the area to keep it temperature controlled and hydrated. This is followed by pulsed scanning of IPL is the treatment area. Immediately following treatment, skin may feel warm and pink, similar to a mild sunburn. This will subside in a couple of hours.
Results are immediately visible post treatment, however depending on individual needs, a course of treatments may be recommended for optimal results.
